18 North County Kiwanis Clubs celebrated the installation of Lieutenant Governor Cathy Kerley and thanked outgoing Lieutnant Governor Donna Hill for her leadership in 2009-2010.

Our 9th Annual Flag Retirement Ceremony retired over 1000 flags and attendance was MARVelous - young and old, all branches of the service, local dignitaries, and most importantly, people who believe in honoring our Flag and all it stands for had a grand time! Hope you'll join us next year on Flag Day, June 14th !

We were honored to have Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts from Kit Carson District (inlcuding San Marcos, Escondido, Pauma Valley, Valley Center, and Palomar Mountain) serve as our Grand Marshal this year in celebration of their upcoming 100th Anniversary. Scouts continuously RENEW the strengths of each generation as young boys accomplish their goals from Cub Scouts to (very often) Eagle Scout. Our 2009 theme was "A Joyful Season... a celebration of renewing, giving and loving!" Our participants were tremendous, as always, in GIVING to our optional request for toys and non-perishable food. Palomar College Campus Police LOVED the toy donations for their needy students toy drive and North County Food Bank was excited and sent their thanks to everyone for the 319 pounds of food they received. Members of the Kiwanis Club of San Marcos thank all of YOU for making this year's parade a happy, safe and truly JOYFUL community event!

Our goal is to place a book-filled treasure chest in every kindergarten classroom in the San Marcos Unified School District. This is an on-going community service project - we refill the treasure chest biennally and add new classrooms as we raise the funds for books. YOUNG CHILDREN are PRIORITY ONE for Kiwanians!
